Wheatgrass, a powerful superfood

   It's hard to know where to start when you think of wheatgrass (also wheatgrass), one of nature's greatest gifts and the most powerful superfood known to man.  The information available is so vast and beautiful that I had to take immediate action to go out and taste the first ounce of juice.  One point that interests me especially is its alkaline properties, which are important for achieving optimal health and disease prevention.

   Wheatgrass is the most alkaline food known to man, so it goes without saying that they should be at the top of the list of foods to include in a pH balanced diet.  Research has shown that chlorophyll present in wheatgrass is the main factor affecting its medicinal properties.  Some believe it is the liquid energy of the sun!  Basic chemistry taught us that chlorophyll is a chemical that captures energy from sunlight for photosynthesis, which releases excess oxygen as a byproduct.


   Chlorophyll is chemically formed in much the same way as hemoglobin (the oxygen-carrying pigment in red blood cells), except that it contains magnesium instead of iron in its core.  The function of hemoglobin is to carry oxygen to our organs, and because of their inherent similarities, chlorophyll can be easily absorbed and thus increase the number of red blood cells in the body.  This, in turn, improves the blood's ability to efficiently distribute oxygen and other nutrients that the body needs.  Thus, the consumption of chlorophyll along with wheatgrass juice is very effective in calming the blood and restoring the whole body.
